Abstract

The Human Resources Program of the ANP - PRH 23.1 was implemented in 2020 at the Department of Chemical Engineering and Materials (DEQM) at PUC-Rio with the aim of strengthening its graduate and undergraduate programs in alignment with the emerging demands of the oil, gas, and biofuels industry. PRH 23.1 is supported by an expanded faculty focused on strategic areas, particularly tailored to the energy sector. The program is underpinned by a robust infrastructure and the highly specialized laboratories of DEQM, recognized for their expertise in advanced analyses and the development of catalysts, new materials, and processes. This expertise has been instrumental in enhancing the quality and efficiency of petroleum-derived products and driving initiatives such as Enhanced Oil Recovery (EOR) using nanotechnology, which allows significant improvements in extraction efficiency and environmental monitoring.Since its inception, PRH 23.1 has benefited 28 scholarship recipients, including 13 current ones, including the coordinator. These scholars are involved in strategic projects in partnership with leading companies like PETROBRAS, and contribute to fuel monitoring projects in collaboration with ANP. The specialized training provided by the program has ensured the employability of graduates in key industry enterprises, solidifying PUC-Rio as a benchmark in training highly qualified professionals to tackle current and future challenges in the energy industry. In summary, PRH 23.1 represents a milestone in human resources development for the energy sector in Rio de Janeiro, aligning advanced academic training with practical industry needs, promoting innovation and sustainability in a sector crucial to the economic and environmental development of the country.
