Abstract

This visit is associated with the theoretical developments of my APR research (process no. 2020/16698-0) and aims to teach a postgraduate course at the Museum of Archeology and Ethnology of the University of São Paulo (MAE-USP) titled "Aegean Thrace: habitation, material culture and cultural interactions". The course will take place between October 28th and 31st, 2024, and will be worth 2 (two) credits within PPGArq. The visit plan also includes the participation of professor Amalia Avramidou in the Global and Local International Seminar: Mediterranean Contacts and Materialities, which will take place in the same week as the postgraduate course. Professor Avramidou's lecture is entitled "The Sanctuary of Parthenos at Neapolis (Kavala) as a Reflection of the Formation and Development of the Greek Polis" and will take place on November 1, 2024, in the afternoon. Professor Amalia Avramidou's visit plan also includes meetings with students from the two thematic Classical Archeology laboratories at MAE-USP, Larp and Labeca, in order to guide them regarding the theoretical-methodological directions of their research. Finally, with Professor Ilieva coming to Brazil, we will have the opportunity to hold working meetings in order to define the next steps of the partnership we are establishing between the Democritus University of Thrace, Greece and MAE- USP. The scope of the partnership includes the participation of professor Avramidou in the Young Researcher Project that the researcher and Labeca collaborator, Juliana Figueira da Hora, is writing, in the research project (APR) on the presence of the Phoenicians in the Aegean that the MAE professor- USP, Maria Cristina Kormikiari is writing, and of my future research project in the Aegean region on coins found in funerary contexts.
