Abstract

The Work Plan for VISITING RESEARCHER, Roberto Casazza, in the Department and Postgraduate Program in Art History at UNIFESP, foresees the development of research and teaching tasks, supervision of postgraduate students, participation in academic meetings and evaluation. The proposal is structured in two axes:a) developing research tasks on the collections of Renaissance books currently housed in libraries in the State of São Paulo;b) developing teaching tasks on the culture of the Renaissance, showing the intersections between philosophy, literature, history and art in the period, and encouraging students to independently carry out specific research, in addition to advising the Warburg & Renaissance Research Group (UNIFESP) and collaborating with the convergent investigations of the RESPONSIBLE RESEARCHER and the set of projects he advises (Master's and PhD) and supervises (Post-Doctorate).The research project of the VISITING RESEARCHER, entitled RENAISSANCE BOOKS IN THE STATE OF SÃO PAULO - QUALITATIVE AND QUANTITATIVE ANALYSIS OF EUROPEAN BOOKS PRINTED DURING THE SECOND HALF OF THE 15TH AND 16TH CENTURIES IN PUBLIC COLLECTIONS IN SÃO PAULO, consists of studying, both in their materiality and in their content, the mentioned set of volumes in the research proposal. Within the scope of this work, a complete overview of the formation of these collections will be offered, their main titles, the trajectory of their most valuable examples, etc., and an assessment of the richness of the works as a teaching instrument, as well as their historical and heritage value for the State of São Paulo. As part of the research work, UNIFESP master's and doctoral students will develop a study on the presence of visual motifs of the Classical Tradition in engravings included in works from the collections mentioned in the research project. This aspect presents a crucial point, namely that of the technical evolution of visual representations, which acquired the mastery of perspective with a certain delay (and also autonomy) in relation to contemporary painting.Alongside this study project, several courses will be offered: an Undergraduate Seminar, dedicated to specifically identifying Renaissance aspects in the Life of Giorgio Vasari; a Postgraduate Seminar, dedicated to Philosophy in the Renaissance; and a Free Course (Workshop), dedicated to the elementary aspects of the medieval and Renaissance cosmos, guided by the understanding of the apparent movements of the sky. This last course will also devote attention to the reading and analysis of works of art and texts from the Renaissance that have celestial themes as their axis. (AU)
