Abstract

The mission of the Center for Citrus Industry Sustainability (Fapesp-Citrosuco) is to to establish an international research Center, focused on developing innovations and disseminating knowledge about citrus industry. The existence of the Center is justified by the need to integrate efforts to provide innovative answers and solutions to maintain the sustainability of the juice industry in the State of São Paulo, Brazil, focusing on strategic actions in the agricultural and industrial areas. The Center will have a team of highly qualified researchers who will conduct inter and multidisciplinary activities involving projects in five lines of research: (i) productivity in the field; (ii) sustainable management of diseases, pests and weeds (iii) biostimulants and biofertilizers; (iv) control and industrial logistics and; (v) new products to orange juice industry. The Center's headquarter institution will be at the Sylvio Moreira Citricus Center of the Agronomic Institute (CCSM/IAC), this choice occurred because CCSM/IAC is a science and innovation institution, working in interdisciplinary areas, which provides sustainable citrus production in Brazil. The organization of the Center will have the participation of a Director and Vice-Director, an Executive Committee and Education and Technology Transfer Managers, as well as an International Advisory Board (IAB), which, together with Citrosuco, a global leader in export of orange juice, will follow the path to achieving the proposed objectives.
