Abstract

The marine environment has a diversity of organisms with varied metabolic and physiological properties and presents compounds with potential for the development of bioproducts. Among these organisms, algae have different classes of compounds with biological properties of industrial interest as well as being highly nutritious. In turn, nanotechnology has developed and is being used to develop new formulations and products. Metallic nanoparticles have been highlighted for their low cost and toxicity, and for efficiently forming nanoparticles containing natural compounds using the eco-friendly concept of green synthesis. In view of the above, the project focuses on determining the compounds in algae biomass and their biological properties, as well as developing a method for the formation of nanoparticles and evaluating the activities (antioxidant, anti-glycative and anti-aging) of algae compounds, aiming to determine the possible application and development of new formulations of nanostructured bioproducts with potential to be applied in the pharmaceutical, cosmetic and food industries.
