Abstract

This project aims to strengthen collaboration between research groups coordinated by Prof. Dr. Eduardo Vicente, from the Department of Microbiology and Ecology, Faculty of Biological Sciences, University of Valencia (Campus de Burjassot, Valencia, Spain), with the group coordinated by me in the Department of Ecology, Institute of Biosciences, University from São Paulo. The activities planned for this visit will also be open to already solid research partners at the Universidade Estadual Paulista "Júlio de Mesquita Filho" (UNESP), on the Sorocaba Campus. During the visiting professor's stay, scheduled for September 2025, numerous activities will take place. Among the planned activities, we have lectures with more general and specific themes, the latter related to the Water Framework Directive (WFD), the European regulation for water resources management. There will also be meetings between the professor and postgraduate students, to discuss topics of interest to them, including analysis and discussion of their master's or doctorate data, or even projects still in progress. In addition to field and laboratory activities, we will compare and discuss the routine methods applied here and, in the group, coordinated by Prof. Edward. We will also discuss writing papers in the data analysis phase. One of them discusses geochronology and radionuclide dating of sediment profiles collected in the dam area, their respective concentrations of metals and paleopigments, from several reservoirs in São Paulo. We will also continue with studies using images from the Sentinel 2 satellite to study water quality and its relationship with the uses and occupations of spaces. (AU)
