Abstract
This project requests FAPESP's support to integrate Manuel Méndez Alonzo as a visiting researcher for 12 months in the project "Between a deep past and an imminent future: socio-environmental impacts of modern colonialism in the Amazon (16th-18th centuries)". Méndez Alonzo is a Mexican historian specializing in interethnic conflicts and ecological transformations in colonial Spanish America. His experience will complement the project, which investigates the impact of Portuguese colonization in the Amazon, focusing on transformations in indigenous societies, the environment, and forest management practices. The activity plan includes research, teaching, supervision of scholarship holders, and scientific dissemination. His participation is expected to contribute significantly to advancing knowledge about colonial Amazonian history. (AU)
