BioEduca: development of teaching materials and teaching-learning strategies for Biology

Abstract

The increasing complexity of socio-environmental challenges requires critical and engaged scientific training, especially in high school, where students develop essential skills for understanding and acting in the face of environmental changes. In the context of Biology teaching, the adoption of pedagogical materials and/or innovative teaching-learning strategies becomes essential to bring scientific content closer to students' reality, promoting a meaningful and contextualized education. This project seeks to respond to this need by exploring active and investigative methodologies for teaching Biology, articulating three central axes: i) conservation of mangroves and coastal areas; ii) climate change; and iii) use of free technologies for research-based learning. These axes will be addressed through scientific initiation research conducted by undergraduate Biology students. Current themes associated with these axes will be investigated in depth and in a practical manner, through an interdisciplinary and transversal approach, aligned with the principles and objectives of the National Common Curricular Base (BNCC). The general objective is to develop innovative pedagogical materials and/or teaching-learning strategies that integrate scientific knowledge into teacher training and contemplate the improvement of Biology teaching, enabling high school students to broaden their understanding of the interactions between biological and social systems, encouraging critical reflection and reasoned decision-making on contemporary environmental and technological issues.
