Abstract

The Institute of Animal Science Institute (IZ) of the São Paulo Agribusiness Technology Agency (APTA) is a century-old Research, Development, and Innovation (RD&I) institution in the area of Sustainable Animal Production, which belongs to the Secretariat of Agriculture and Supply of the State of São Paulo Government. Research meets the demands of the agricultural sector and helps to define public policies aimed at food security and increasing productivity in the production sector. The Institute of Animal Science has the following Research, Development, and Innovation (RD&I) units: Advanced Beef Cattle Research and Development Center (in Sertãozinho), Advanced Sustainable Livestock Research and Development Center (in São José do Rio Preto), Dairy Cattle Research and Development Center (in Nova Odessa), Diversified Animal Science Research and Development Center (in Nova Odessa), Pasture and Animal Feed Research and Development Center (in Nova Odessa), Genetics and Biotechnology Research and Development Center (in Nova Odessa), Regional Research Nucleus of Registro, Regional Research Nucleus of Ribeirão Preto, and Regional Research Nucleus of Tanquinho, in addition to administrative and research programming centers. All of these units are directly linked to the Graduate Program in Sustainable Animal Production, developing RD&I projects, as well as human resource training and knowledge transfer. (AU)
