APS 5.0 - Health in the palm of your hand: experimental study with the inclusive dissemination of digital technologies in nursing in child health

Abstract

Introduction: The Unified Health System (SUS) has undergone profound changes driven by digital innovation, and this process was accelerated after the COVID-19 pandemic, with the widespread implementation of digital technologies, particularly in primary health care (PHC). The integration of educational technologies into virtual knowledge showcases has proven essential for aligning the training of professionals and clients with the needs of primary health care and the principles of open science. In this context, virtual knowledge showcases emerge as innovative strategies for the organization and inclusive dissemination of evidence-based content, fostering critical and up-to-date clinical practice, as well as more emancipatory health education. Objective: To develop and evaluate a virtual knowledge showcase on primary health care with an emphasis on nursing in child health. Method: This is an exploratory, applied, experimental research, organized in two phases: the first, to develop the digital showcase, and the second, an experiment to evaluate it. Development will consist of four main stages: planning, design and layout, and content development and production. Various existing digital resources (infographics, videos, podcasts, and interactive objects) will be used, focusing on priority child health topics in Primary Care. The digital showcase will be evaluated through a randomized trial conducted in public primary care institutions with nursing professionals. Nursing professionals will be randomly divided into two groups: an experimental group exposed to the digital showcase of knowledge about child care in PHC, and a control group exposed to the showcase. After the period with and without exposure to the digital showcase, a questionnaire will be administered about primary care knowledge. Instrumental data will be collected on participants' practice, satisfaction, self-efficacy, and self-confidence. The data will be subjected to descriptive analysis, and the Student's t-test will be used for comparison between groups. The expected outcome is the creation of an accessible, inclusive virtual platform, with an experimental study evaluating the incorporation of nursing care content into primary health care, with a focus on child health. The project also aims to encourage the active participation of faculty and professionals in the curation, development, and updating of materials. The project will contribute to improving academic and continuing education in health, as well as improving health education for clients, fostering teaching-service-community integration, and strengthening the culture of using technological innovation in health.
