Abstract

The Artificial Intelligence for Mathematics and Innovative Learning Research Center (CCD-IAMAI) is dedicated to conducting research that strengthens and promotes innovation in mathematics education through the support of artificial intelligence. Its mission is to create, apply, and disseminate innovative technologies for learning and teaching in this field of knowledge. To achieve this mission, IAMAI is structured into six interconnected subprojects, ensuring that different research and development lines progress simultaneously and in a coordinated manner. The subproject Datasets and AI Tools for Mathematics Education provides the technological foundation for IAMAI. Building on this base, three subprojects explore specific pedagogical approaches mediated by AI:- The subproject Concrete and Interactive Mathematics Objects investigates the use of physical and interactive tools for learning and teaching mathematics, incorporating AI to analyze and enhance the learning experience. - The subproject Mathetic-AI: A Meta-Learning Assistant develops an AI-based assistant designed to foster reflection, promote self-regulated learning, and personalize students' mathematical learning experiences. - The subproject Integration of Technologies into the Mathematics Curriculum investigates and implements methodologies for the structured adoption of AI and digital tools within the mathematics curriculum, aligned with national and international educational guidelines. The subproject Human Resource Training for Mathematics Education aims to prepare teachers and researchers to use and develop innovative AI-based solutions. Meanwhile, the Culture and Outreach subproject seeks to broaden the impact of IAMAI's research through events, interactive exhibitions, and accessible educational materials for diverse audiences. The knowledge generated by these subprojects contributes to two key strategic pillars of IAMAI's societal relevance: educator training and the dissemination of mathematical culture. The project is supported by institutions such as IME-USP, ICMC-USP, Poli-USP, and IGCE-UNESP, and includes strategic partnerships with public schools and specialists in artificial intelligence and mathematics education. The expected impact includes improved student learning outcomes, enhanced digital inclusion, and support for teachers in adopting innovative technologies and methodologies. IAMAI aims to become a national reference center in the application of AI to mathematics education, promoting innovation, equity, and sustainability in the teaching of mathematics in Brazil. (AU)
