Abstract

The visit of Prof. Thomas Vojta to the Instituto de Física de São Carlos - USP aims to revitalize the scientific collaboration with the group of Prof. José Hoyos. The main goals are: (i) initiating a new collaboration on the effects of quenched randomness and dissipation in systems exhibiting intertwined orders, and (ii) continuing the collaboration on the effects of randomness in frustrated magnetic systems. In addition to specific research results, we expect the development of novel theoretical and computational methods during the visit. Prof. Vojta will have intense interactions with the students in Prof. Hoyos' group, as well as other researchers at the Instituto de Física de São Carlos and neighboringinstitutions. (AU)
