Abstract

The first phase of the project aims to decipher, classify and publish some notebooks so as to make them easily legible and accessible to any researcher. Participating thus in the Marcel Proust publication project, Cahiers 1 to 75 of the Bibliotheque Nationale de France, the Brépols project (from the name of the Publisher in Turnhout, Belgium, that will edit the publication), is coordinated by the Proust team from the Institut des Textes et Manuscrits Modernes (ITEM), the laboratory of the CNRS, and includes a Japanese team in addition to a researcher from the University of Belfast. The Brazilian Brépols project will be responsible for notebooks 16, 17, 20, 21, 28, 38, for a part of 44, and for notebook 53. Each notebook includes several researchers who decipher and revise and a third, necessarily a French speaker, who carries out the final revision. Next or concomitantly, the researcher must present each deciphered folio and insert it into the model planned by the coordination, in order to unify the edition. The second phase, parallel to the first, consists of presenting the results in two mini-colloquia and two international colloquia, in which the processes of the creation of Proustian writing detected, analyzed and interpreted, will enrich Proustian criticism and will contribute to the construction of a theory about writing.
