Abstract
This research project intends to continue the work successfully developed by our group on the area of power system operation planning. The models and programs developed in the last twenty years, including those developed within the three previous thematic projects, allow the representation and optimization of the complete interconnected Brazilian system, still considering all the thermal and hydro power plants, with their hydraulic constrains and the multiple utilization of water, neglecting, however, the detailed representation of the electric power grid. In this way, in this new thematic project, the focus will be on improving the representation of the electrical components of the system. The models and software to be developed will easily interface with those ones previously designed for the operation planning. Thus, we will finally build a model for the short-term operation planning of the Brazilian system that considers its main electric-energetic characteristics, making possible, after this detailed representation of the entire system, to explore the benefits of optimization but meeting security requirements.
