Departing from the assumption that there is a need for interdisciplinary research groups to work in Brazil, the thematical project herein submitted is defined not only as an investigation on the critical theory tradition, but also as a forward-looking investigation based upon the developments of such intellectual school of thought. The project therefore articulates different types of moral, political and legal problems notwithstanding the prominence of the philosophical perspective. Also, this proposal is related to a four-year previous work funded by a Fapesp thematical project (file no. 99109544-4). Such a previous and collective work was inspired by Jürgen Habermas' writings (especially the book law and democracy: between facts and norms). The project aims at mapping the several and different critical models of social theory from their moral, legal and political perspectives. The goal is to devise relevant applications to present and immediate problems. In this sense this thematical project in a general characterization consists on the following moments: 1) the relationship between the critical theory and the philosophical tradition, particularly its kantian source; 2) the reconstruction of the several critical theory models concerned with the moral, political and legal dimensions; 3) applied research in the fields of law, politics and moral.
