Synthesis and chacterization of novel materials strategically structured and organized to be applied in analytical and photonic devices

Abstract

The main aim of this Project is the development of novel material focusing on the practical applications, sharing the knowledge of the researchers with expertise in material synthesis with those experts in analytical devices, allowing a significant advance in the materials field for the practical applications. In this sense, it is focused on the studies of the performance of the novel materials in different applications, according to their properties. Most of these materials will be the polymeric systems based on poly-siloxane, organic-inorganic hybrids and ceramic composite. In the strategies for the development of these novel materials will be considered the characteristics to allow: a) Prepare adsorbents with high capacity and selectivity to be applied in the separation processes like stationary phase for (electro)chromatography; b) prepare molecular imprinting for recognizer systems (sensors); c) insertion of nanoparticles of inorganic materials in thin films of polymer, silica and ceramic, searching for materials with appropriate conductivity to build electrochemical devices; d) prepare thin films with luminescence properties to apply in waveguide, light amplifiers and sensors; e) obtain novel and versatile materials allowing an easy sealing and modulation of the chemical properties, transparency, hidrophobicity, wettability, to be applied in micro total analysis systems.
