National Institute of Research and Innovation in Irrigation Engineering


Despite the extraordinary scientific advances of the last 10 years, yet are remote chances that a plant under conditions of permanent water deficiency in the soil, to achieve levels of productivity and quality of production, comparable to that of a Rabbit (2007) irrigated plant. Brazil with an irrigated area of 26 million hectares and with the largest water reserve of the planet, less irrigation than Spain and Italy, countries of the size of some Brazilian States, but who knew how to use and irrigation technology to achieve excellent productivity in some areas. Our country is still far short of a sustainable agricultural production, particularly when the water resource is entered in the production process. Lack of basic research and applied research. Greater disability exists when we think about technology transfer to farmers since the public agencies responsible for this function are off in terms of equipment and qualified personnel. The capability of expansion of irrigated agriculture is promising with regard to various aspects that impact on the economic development and innovation is a key word to contribute in this process. The use of irrigation has suffered serious criticism in recent times, especially when related to the problems of water scarcity and energy resulting in even greater difficulties for the use of this technique by farmers. In the face of these assumptions is that here is the proposal to create an institution, with a new perspective of research, technological development and innovation in irrigation, seeking excellence in science and technology activities at the international level, a vigorous system of Ec integration T irrigation engineering with business system, the improvement of science education, and more balanced participation of different regions of the country in the productive effort based on knowledgeas guides the National system of C PACTI, TeI. The proposed Institute will be focused on irrigation Engineering, because we believe that the ESALQ, through its Department of rural Engineering, already contributed substantially in the last 30 years to the development of basic and applied research in this area. She is a graduate of level 5 by CAPES (MSC and PhD), and has a physical infrastructure for such activity. As this announcement is intended to also perform greater interaction between University and company, we believe that there would be no better partner than the newly created test laboratory in irrigation equipment-LEEI in Sobral-CE, the only accredited in Brazil by INMETRO and with an infrastructure and an unprecedented role in Brazil, where he proposes a total interaction with irrigation and industries with rinsing and, which as will be demonstrated in this document needs too of a partner in the Southeast to make its ' Iink ' with companies and with government sectors, because it is installed in an area that inhibits, in terms of geography and logistics, more consolidated partnerships. Based on this assumption, we believe that the creation of this institution reflects exactly what it wants, PACTI, as well as this notice, where certainly there will be basic, applied research, technological development and innovation.
