It is well established that diabetes induces oral complications, especially periodontitis, and that oral infections disturb the metabolic control. The delay in skin wound healing in diabetes is well known and it is associated with secondary infections. However the relationship between diabetes and increased risk of infection after dental extraction is not well documented. In the same way there is no definitive clinical evidence on the benefits of the use of antibiotic prophylaxis before invasive dental procedures in diabetic patients. For this reason, the aim of this prospective clinical study is to evaluate the healing of tooth extraction sockets in patients with diabetes, taking into account laboratory data such as blood count, glycated hemoglobin and profile immunity of the patient.
