Guidelines and tools for supporting accessibility during the evolution of interactive web applications

Abstract

There is a growing number of people who deal with the use of informatics in everyday tasks on the Internet and its broad range of services. The phenomenon has boosted the development of solutions for attending the users 'demands, their requirements for easier interactions, adopting recent technological innovations. Web Accessibility aims at enabling users using any agent (software or hardware that retrieves and serializes Web content) to understand and interact with the content of a website, regardless of disabilities or other barriers. We emphasize accessibility during the development and evolution of interactive applications available on the Web, considering both the perspectives of the users of web content (readers and authors), and the developers responsible for the engineering of such applications in general. And in particular, we aim at those developers have proposals for new ways of interactions combining natural modes - with Multimodal Interfaces, empowered by technological innovations. As a result, we hope to contribute to advancing the state of the art of current guidelines, as well as proposing tools and software artifacts if the form of models that support accessibility. It is worth noticing that our studies aim to disseminate improvements that may be made in the development of Web applications and enhance the accessibility of its contents to the diversity of end users.
