Abstract
Invasive breast carcinomas represent a heterogeneous group of tumors that show a wide variation in terms of their clinical presentation, behavior and morphology and are described at least 18 different histologic types of breast carcinomas by the World Health Organization (WHO). However, there are few available studies on the molecular profiles and characterization of intracellular signaling pathways of the special histologic subtypes that together represent the vast majority of breast tumors. This study may help to identify prognostic markers of therapeutic response. OBJECTIVE: To characterize the molecular profile of specific histological subtypes of breast cancer using the following immunohistochemical markers: estrogen receptor, progesterone receptor, HER2, CK5, P-cadherin, EGFR, MIB-1 and p53, as well as markers of pathways signaling intracelulares. MATERIAIS AND METHODS: Will be selected, consecutive paraffin blocks of women with breast cancer and whose histological diagnoses were mucinous carcinoma, tubular, micropapilífero, intracystic papillary, apocrine, and metaplastic in three Institutions. Blocks will be extracted donors cylinders 2 mm in diameter and deposited in the recipient paraffin blocks using Tissue Microarray builder ab1802 (Abcam ®, Cambridge, UK). These cuts will be made to search for molecular markers of protein expression and signaling pathways for breast carcinomas. (AU)
