Phylogenetic relationship of 24 species belonging to 4 families of Heteroptera (Coreidae, Gerridae, Pentatomidae and Reduviidae) from the COI mitochondrial gene

Abstract

We propose in this project the microgenomic characterization of 24 species belonging to four families (Coreidae, Gerridae, Pentatomidae and Reduviidae) of Heteroptera, from the sequencing and analysis of COI mitochondrial gene. The results will characterize the genetic variability in the various groups of Heteroptera and serve to establish the phylogenetic relationships, and provide subsidies for taxonomic interpretations. The Heteroptera exhibit features cytogenetics natural and which are still little studied, making it difficult, for example, the understanding of the phylogenetic relationships of the group. Among them include: presence of holocentric chromosomes; simple or multiple sex chromosome system; presence of m-chromosome, B chromosome, univalentes; terminals or interstitial chiasma; telomeric association of chromosomes; pre-reducional mechanism of autosomes and post-reducional to the sex chromosomes; testicles formed or not, harlequin lobe; different nucleolar behavior during spermatogenesis of species. Thus, with results that are obtained will be possible to establish the phylogenetic relationships among the 24 species, and provide subsidies for taxonomic and phylogenetic interpretations of the group.
