Abstract

Develop new technologies to improve animal welfare, especially to meet production and exportation it is important for the swine meet industry. The present research has the objective to evaluate the welfare of different animal groups (25, 50, 75 animals) and densities(0,7m2, 0,8m2 e 0,9m2) from weaning to finishing periods on a wean to finish system. The environment will be monitored (temperature, relative humidity e air velocity) and the temperature and humidity index will be calculated. The gases - NH3, H2S, CO e CO2, the swine vocalization, behavior, swine surface temperature, cortisol levels and swine production index will be also monitored. Therefore it is necessary to know more about the welfare from swine raised in wean to finish systems that are increasing in the Brazilian swine production.
