Abstract

Different traces of organic compounds such as pharmaceuticals, hormones and personal care products have been qualified as emerging contaminants, the most part of these compounds are endocrine disruptors. New researches are pointing to them in different sections of the environment all around the world. This project aims to obtain informations to create a database about Jundiaí and Piraí rivers. Between the target compounds are: acid acetylsalicylic, caffeine, carbamazepine, diclofenac sodium , estrone, 17 ²-estradiol, 17 a-ethinylestradiol, ibuprofen, naproxen and propanolol. The general goals of this project are to develop and to adapt methods to collect and analyze these target compounds, to understand the distribution and dynamic of them into the aquatic environment and create a database to help public policies in the future. This group of organic compounds isn't regulated by any control agency in Brazil. The proposed determinations will be done by gas chromatography - mass spectrometer (GC/MS). Solid phase extraction (SPE) of aqueous samples and ultrasonic extraction of solids samples will be investigated, when necessary derivatization will be applied. (AU)
