Abstract

Chronic Rhinosinusitis with Nasal Polyps (CRSwNP) is a common and prevalent disease that affects 4% of the general population. Among the etiopathogenic hypothesis of CRSwNP are the bacterial biofilms paradigm and the inflammatory modulation promoted by superantigens. As biofilms have the capacity to adhere to mucosal surfaces, they could maintain the inflammatory process either by direct lesion to the epithelium or through the production of exogens toxins, like the superatigens.
