Abstract

The objective of this research is to evidence the importance of information literacy in the context of the digital universe and to underline the performance that librarians can apply in this scene. Starting with an analysis of the beginnings of the graduation in Library and Information Science (LIS) in the USP, at the end of 1960, and talking with the first protagonists, the search will argue the central questions about the past decades, comparing them with the new ones. Amongst the thematic for the interviews: singularities of the professional formation - past and present; the recent national law of the school libraries in Brazil (2010); the mediation of the information in the acquisition of abilities and competences in the virtual age; and strategic needs of managers of information in Industries, State companies, Non-Government Organization (NOG), and Universities. Managers will also be interviewed. The methodological concepts will be based on comparative studies of information literacy and on the theoretical references that correlate the change of paradigm and polices in the capitalist production with the new tools of Information and Communication Technology (ICT). The results will compose a digital base of videos, available images and documents in a page of web. (AU)
