Effect of the number of screws on the stability of locking mandibular reconstruction plates. Biomechanical study

Abstract

This study aims to evaluate through biomechanical testing the number of screws and length of the reconstruction plate that are sufficient to withstand functional loading when applied to treat atrophic mandible fractures.Mandibular replicas will be used to simulate atrophic mandible for mechanical testing. The method of fixation will be locking reconstruction plates, varying the number of screws applied to each side of the fracture. The objective is to determine the minimum number of screws necessary to guarantee stability. (AU)
