Abstract

The resources requested in the present project will be used basically to improve the infra structure of the Physics Department Raman Laboratory concerning to synthesis and optical characterization of materials to be submitted to high hydrostatic pressures. The synthesis technique used will be mechanical alloying through which is possible to activate the solid state reaction by reducing the particle size down to few tenth's of nanometers.The main solicitation of this project is a UV-Vis-NIR spectrophotometer to study the optical absorption of transition elements and rare earth doped ABO3-type perovskite materials since we aim to study how it is possible to tune the photoluminescence emission varying the particle size which in turn changes the host matrix crystal field. After the optical characterization, the samples will be submitted to high pressures. (AU)
