Abstract

Vancomycin resistence is a great problem worldwide and was first described in Europe and USA. Nowadays VRE are being continuously described in many geographic areas. The present work aims in vitro evaluation of VRE isolates from patients from 2 hospitals of Ribeirao Preto by species identification by PCR, investigation of van and virulence genes and daptomycin susceptibility. Transposon Tn1542 will be extensively studied and genetic relationship of the isolates will be investigated by PFGE and MLST. (AU)
