Restoration treatment on molar incisor hypomineralizated molars: longitudial study

Abstract

The Molar-Incisor hypomineralization (MIH) is a developmental diturb that affects the first molars and incisors. The enamel appears fragile and can easily stand out and expose the dentin, favoring the establishment of sensitive teeth and caries lesions. The treatment of teeth with this change depends on the severity of the case and may involve up from fluorterapy to extractions. This study will evaluate composite resin restorations filtek Z350 (3M ESPE, St Paul, USA) affected by the MIH using the adhesive systems Adper Scothbond Multi-purpose (3M ESPE, St Paul, USA) and Clearfil SE bond (Kurarai Medical INC, Okayama, Japan). 50 PMP afected by MIH will be selected with children aged 6 to 8 years of public and private schools in Araraquara / SP, Brazil. This will include teeth classified as moderate severity according to Lygidakis et al. (2010). The teeth are first classified as to severity of MIH and will also be recorded indices DMFT and dmft. The PMP will be randomly assigned to G1 (n = 25), the teeth are restored using Adper Scothbond Multi-purpose (3M ESPE, St Paul, USA) and G2 (n = 25), the teeth are restored using and Clearfil SE bond (Kurarai Medical INC, Okayama, Japan). The restoration Will be clinically evaluated by the modified USPHS criteria and standardized photographic analysis by two observers blinded and calibrated (Kappa 0.75), in the period immediately after the restoration, after one month, after six months, after 12 and 18 months. The data will be tabulated and analyzed statistically. (AU)
