Abstract
The concern of the genus Staphylococcus and importance have increased substantially, in animals and mainly in humans. Currently in addition to S. aureus, other coagulase-positive staphylococci (CPS) and coagulase-negative staphylococci (SCN) considered of minor importance, are attracting the interest of researchers because of the risk to public health represented by these micro-organisms in the etiology of mastitis in relation to antimicrobial resistance production capacity and heat-stable enterotoxin. The participation of these pathogens in bovine mastitis by milk and broadcasting justifies the need to investigate the toxigenic capacity and antimicrobial resistance. The objectives of this project: identify the main species, determine the potential risk to public health represented by the toxigenic capacity of strains and vancomycin resistance by detection of the vanA gene. It will be studied 150 strains of SCP and SCN 150 strains isolated from cases of bovine mastitis from different properties of the State of Sao Paulo. From the isolates will be analyzed for the presence of genes for production of enterotoxins by Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR). Gene expression will be evaluated by Real-Time PCR (RTQ-PCR). The isolates will be subjected to sensitivity profile correlated with the detection of the vanA gene by PCR. The relevance of this project is based on the need to contribute to assessing the risk of mastitis by SCP and SCN in the food security of consumers of milk. (AU)
