Geomorphic paleosurfaces correlation of summit in Brazil, Uruguay and Argentina: dating, morphology, cartography, deposits and associated alteration profiles

Abstract

Large Mesozoic and Tertiary surfaces are traditionally used for regional correlations in large geographic areas, providing information in different orders, but especially climatic types, paleolatitudes and tectonic stability and ultimately in the oil prospecting areas of the continental shelf. In Africa and Australia, these surfaces are very well mapped, characterized and correlated, but in South America, works are much more specific, which makes the correlations in the territories of both countries and especially when it comes to the different countries of South America . The purpose of this paper is to start work on the correlation between the surfaces of the summit of Brazil, Uruguay and Argentina. These correlations will be possible through: 1. Joint fieldwork with researchers from three countries to exchange knowledge of different surfaces in the country 2. Mappings of regional summit surfaces in the three countries on a scale of recognition 3. Selection of areas for specific detail, with maps in greater detail, descriptions of morphological detail, chemical analysis, mineralogical analysis and micromorphological analysis when necessary 4. Mappings counterparts in scale only among countries, 5. Will be evaluated experimentally, and geochronology of supergene thermochronology coverage of specific areas where the results will allow comparison of ages of the deposits and erosion and denudation rates with those of other regions, and provides information about the history change, uplift, exhumation of the topography, paleoclimate and erosivity of the regions involved in this project during the Superior Mesozoic and Lower Cenozoic .
