Abstract

Human activities developed in the watershed directly affect the characteristics of the waters of rivers and reservoirs, which have been observed in a growing progressive reduction in quality. This study aims to analyze the main physical, chemical and microbiological variables, related to water quality and bathing in the river Paraná in areas used for recreation and leisure for the population of the Rosana, SP and visitors in the region of Paranapanema Pontal and so, compare the characteristics of the bathing water and between locations with different flows of visitors and tourism infrastructure. Another objective is the adaptation of an instrument for assessing the quality of aquatic environments for use in tourism, based on the PAR tool (Rapid Assessment Protocol) used for monitoring rivers. Monthly sampling will be carried out on the water surface, January to March 2012 and July-September 2012 at six stations in the littoral zone and pelagic, totaling twelve samples per month. These areas are concentrated on the left bank of the Parana River, an area which is already being investigated in relation to its tourism potential. The results will provide grants for planning and development of tourism in the region of Paranapanema Pontal. (AU)
