Abstract

A new method to study spin density wave (SDW) magnetism both in Cr spacers of magnetic multilayers, such as Fe/Cr system, and Cr matrix in the vicinity of magnetic impurities (Fe, Co) in bulk Cr alloys will be elaborated. This method is based on the theory of local SDW transition and short range SDW order recently proposed to expiai n some features of bulk Cr alloys with magnetic and nonmagnetic impurities. The close origin of a short range order SDW in Fe/Cr multilayers and In bulk Cr alloys above and below the Neel temperature will be revealed and analyzed. The structure of SDW and phase diagram for both types of systems will be also clarified. The origin of magnetic irreversibility in Cr alloys containing Fe and Co will be analyzed in the framework of the model of a short-range SDW order. (AU)
