Abstract

Dr. Christer Hansson, from Lund University, Sweden, has a large experience on the taxonomy of Eulophidae (Hymenoptera) and has been working during the last ten years on Eulophidae of the tropical America, mainly Central America. His activities include the description of 534 species and 20 genera new for the Science. In this project, the proposed activities are to classify and to identify as far as possible the ca. 2750 Entedoninae specimens collected through the project "Biodiversity of Hymenoptera and Isoptera: richness and diversity along a latitudinal gradient in the Mata Atlântica - the eastern Brazilian rain forest" (FAPESP process # 98/05083-3), which has been coordinated by Dr. Carlos Roberto F. Brandão, from the Zoology Museum/University of São Paulo. Part of this material is also being studied in the ongoing project "Revision of the species of Omphale and Perditorulus (Hymenoptera: Eulophidae) occurring at the Brazilian Atlantic Forest" (FAPESP process # 2006/06730-7), thus, two projects would have the benefits of Dr. Hansson's visit to Brazil.
