Abstract
Professor Anthony Wall's visit to the Pontifical Catholic University of Sao Paulo, in partnership with other Brazilian universities, aims at deepening research on the Bakhtinian theory of verbal-visual discourse, which is being carried out in cooperation with the Calgary University/Canada. The involvement of the Post-graduate Programs of Applied Linguistics (LAEL/PUC-SP), Philology and Portuguese (DLCV/USP), Semiotics and Linguistics (DL/USP), Linguistics at UFSCar, Linguistics and Portuguese at UNESP - Araraquara, School of Communication and Arts (ECA/USP) occurs due to the common grounds of interest that they share for the dialogical theory of the Circle of Bakhtin and their contribution to the understanding of verbal-visual texts and discourses. The work plan which is to be carried out during a period of three weeks - from April, 13th to May, 4th, 2009 - aims mainly at discussing scientific work and exchanging research information. Thus, it encompasses the exhibition/discussion of projects by senior and junior researchers; meetings held with research groups; conferences conducted at the different Post-Graduate Programs involved with this visit so as to proceed to the exchange of scientific results; edition of a book with previously discussed researches - and to be published in 2009 -; as well as the design of a possible international cooperation agreement.
