Abstract

The short-term research trip is essential to the continuity of a long-term cooperation between our team and Dr. Judith E. Winston, aiming the study of the systematic and distribution of bryozoans of Brazil. During her stay in next March, the systematic study of bryozoans developed as part of one of the research projects within the framework of the BIOTA/FAPESP Program will be almost completed, with the submission of two manuscripts for publication in peer-reviewed journals and the preparation (in progress since 2005) of a guide for identification of extant marine bryozoans in Brazil. Other activities will be developed, including the study of additional collections available, aiming to intensify this joint cooperation and establish a productive and active team specialized in the systematics of Bryozoa in Brazil.
