Abstract

There are several aims for the visit during 2009. They are: 1. To further develop the interaction between two research groups - the Dynamics Group headed by Professor Brennan in the ISVR and the Materials and Intelligent Systems Group, headed by Professor Lopes Jr. in UNESP. 2. To carry out research in two main areas - (a) active control of vibration isolation and (b) energy harvesting from ambient vibration. 3. To visit the Federal University of Uberlandia (with whom Professor Lopes has extensive collaboration), because there is significant activity in structural vibrations in this Institution. 4. To visit UNICAMP to exchange ideas and interact with Professors José Roberto Arruda and Kátia Cavalca. Professor Brennan already knows these professors quite well. (AU)
