Radar and electrical studies of deep convection in Vael do Paraíba during CHUVA

Abstract

This proposal is concerned with polarimetric radar and cloud electrical observations of deep convection during the CHUVA LMA campaign in Vale do Paraíba, in the vicinity of Sao Paulo, Brazil, during the period November-December, 2011. This study will cover the following activities: the distinctions in water vapor conditions of main interest to cloud microphysics. The influence of humidity conditions on anisotropic ice crystal shapes, provides background information on relevant polarimetric radar observations, discuss the theoretical treatment of the condition of ice super-saturation, and discuss the field investigation proposed for CHUVA.
