Abstract
October - 2011 - sharing and reading key literature on WWF(*) in economics and political science with Regina Madalozzo (Insper)-researching the details of the Brazilian political system -familiarizing myself with the Brazilian statistical databases (IBGE etc), in collaboration with Regina Madalozzo (Insper)-preliminary descriptive statistical analysis with Regina Madalozzo (Insper)(*) WWF refers to women, work and family; more specifically, it refers to anti-discrimination, parental leave, and childcare policies. November - 2011- reading all available secondary literature on WWF in Brazil -review of all laws and official policy documents on anti-discrimination policies-review of print media coverage of anti-discrimination policies. December-2011- analysis of legislative debates and judicial court cases on anti-discrimination policies - constructing a detailed chronogram of the policy process on anti-discrimination policies - discussion of preliminary hypotheses on anti-discrimination policies with Regina Madalozzo and Gazi Islam (Insper) and Mauricio Bugarin (UnB). January-2012- review of all laws and official policy documents on parental leave policies-review of print media coverage of parental leave policies. February-2012- analysis of legislative debates and judicial court cases on parental leave policies - constructing a detailed chronogram of the policy process on parental leave policies - discussion of preliminary hypotheses on parental leave policies with Regina Madalozzo and Gazi Islam (Insper) and Mauricio Bugarin (UnB). March-2012- review of all laws and official policy documents on early childhood education and care (ECEC) policies- review of print media coverage of ECEC policies. April-2012- analysis of legislative debates and judicial court cases on ECEC policies - constructing a detailed chronogram of the policy process on ECEC policies -discussion of preliminary hypotheses on ECEC policies with Regina Madalozzo and Gazi Islam (Insper) and Mauricio Bugarin (UnB). May-2012- trip to Brasilia to collect missing policy documents and to interview key policy actors on all three issue areas - collaboration with Regina Madalozzo and Gazi Islam (Insper) and Mauricio Bugarin (UnB) on linking the finding on the policy process to social conditions. June-2012- comparison of the three policy issues and examination of causes of the policy process, drawing on data collected-collaboration with research partners continued. July-2012- examination of the causes of the policy process, continued - start write-up of research results in collaboration with research partners. August-2012- trip to Brasilia to interview key policy actors in relation to findings on causes and effects of the policy process -continue write-up of research results. September-2012- continue collaboration with research partners and write-up of research results -construct policy briefs for dissemination, prepare manuscripts for submission to peer-reviewed journals.
