Abstract

This project tries to investigate the process of teaching and learning in relation to the construction of school knowledge and teacher training. The main objective of this project is to address the "how to teach to teach" and "how to learn." In this dimension is not necessary to know only the content but we need to understand how students learn, how to build knowledge and create conditions for learning, searching for direction in how to teach. In this context we will have the place, the city and the urban as central concepts for understanding what the student learns. Because, it is important for school geography that students understand the lived reality, develop spatial reasoning, understand the organization of the territory, or has the ability to read the world. Thus, these concepts are considered by us as structuring of school geography, and so it is necessary to examine how teachers and students from public elementary education network in São Paulo understand them, with the individual and collective practices as references to express their views through of teaching activities practiced in the classroom. So from the standpoint of theoretical and methodological we will approach the subject based on tools for the identification and interpretation of concepts through texts written (narrative) and the analysis of the didactic actions , with the active methodologies and the educational projects (didactic sequence, problem solving, modeling, simulations and games) as practices of teachers in the classroom.
