Effect of heat treatment in the adhesion to silanized feldspathic ceramic and resin luting cement

Abstract

The surface treatment carried out in conventional feldspathic ceramic has been conditioning of hydrofluoric acid and silane application. But the etching has been questioned by chemical toxicity in several studies. So it was aimed to evaluate the effect of heat treatment on silanized feldspathic ceramic adherence resin cement. By means of an in vitro 48 blocks are sectioned feldspathic ceramic sintered, in which 12 blocks with dimensions 12x10x17 are sectioned after in 24 blocks are divided into dimensions of 12x10x4 mm and used for the groups without aging and aging by thermal cycling, and the 24 blocks with dimensions of 5x10x4mm serve to groups with aging mechanic. These blocks will be divided randomly into three groups: Group 1 (HF + Silane), Group 2 (HF + Silane + heating 77 ° C), Group 3 (silane + heating 77 ° C). The ceramic blocks are cemented in resin composed blocks with resin cement, and then be cut into sticks 1mm2 to be tested by microtensile mechanical test at a speed of 1mm/min (EMIC). Half of the sticks obtained from each sample is subjected to thermal cycling (12.000 cycles, 5 ° / 55 ° C ± 1 ° C) whereas the other sticks must be tested 24 hours after cutting. The ceramic blocks cemented in composite resin, which receive mechanical cycling, will be subjected to 10,000 cycles with a load of 100 N, after the cycles will be sectioned into sticks of 1mm2. Then the fractured surfaces are analyzed under a stereomicroscope 20x increase and scanning electron microscope 100x, 300x and 500x (SEM), only the significant samples. Statistical analysis will be used two-factor ANOVA and Turkey test with a significance level of 5%. (AU)
