Surface treatment evaluation of ceramic to adhesive cements

The objective of this study is to evaluate zirconia ceramic pre-treatment surface with different methods and bond strength of ceramic-resin cement interface. Twenty bars (6 x 6 x 4 mm3) will be for each group of zirconia as surface treatment: G1 - untreated (control); G2 - primer; G3 - chairside silica coating; G4 - chairside silica coating + silane; G5 - air abrasion with Al2O3 particles; G6 - air abrasion with Al2O3 particles + primer; G7 - Nd:YAG Laser; G8 - Nd:YAG Laser + primer. The adhesive procedure will be performed by a dual resin cement RelyX ARC (3M ESPE, St. Paul, MN, USA) and dual self-adhesive resin cement Panavia F2.0 (Kuraray, Okayama, Japan) through Tygon tube (1 mm thickness and 0.75 mm inner diameter). Ten samples of each group will be evaluated using the microshear bond strength test, at a crosshead speed of 1 mm/min, after 24 hours storage in distilled water at 37°C. After 6 months and under the same storage conditions, the remaining 10 samples will be taken to the microshear of testing machine for evaluation of the second experimental period. The surface morphology of the samples will be analyzed by confocal microscopy before and after the test. The data will be submitted to ANOVA at a significance level of 5%. (AU)
