Abstract

The advancement of the nanophotonics research in the past decade have shown its potential to establish disruptive technology in the fields of telecom, multi-core processors and radio-frequency signal proces- sing. In this project we propose the development of on-chip nanophotonic devices based on silicon and III-V materials. Our focus will be two-fold, the coupling between mechanical and optical modes inside optical microcavities, e.g. cavity optomechanics, and the generation of coherent light based on nonlinear mixing in optical microcavities. We expect our results not only to impact all-optical signal processing technology and radio-frequency photonics, but also contribute to the establishment of nano fabrication techniques in the State of Sao Paulo.
