Abstract
Among treatments employed to treat skeletal muscle injuries, the pharmacological therapy is the widely used possibly because its effects and mechanisms are sufficiently established. On the other hand, alternative therapies such low-level laser therapy (LLLT) still has some points to be clarified for complete evidence of your effects. With this perspective in mind, the aim of this project is to analyze and compare effects of sodium diclofenac (with topical application) and LLLT on biochemical, morphological and functional aspects when applied immediately after skeletal muscle trauma in rats. For such, will be performed morphological analysis employing histology (optical light microscopy), functional analysis employing measures of muscular strength and work in 3 electrical stimulation-induced tetanic contractions, and biochemical analysis employing quantification of gene expression (real-time polymerase chain reaction - RT-PCR) and protein expression (Western-Blott method) of Cyclooxygenase 1 and 2 enzymes (COX-1 and COX-2). Samples will be also analyszed employing imunoenzymatic test (ELISA) in order to quantify interleukins 1², 6 and 10 (IL-1², IL-6 and IL-10, respectivelly) and tumor necrosis factor alpha (TNF-±).
