Abstract

This project aims to provide an academic visit for the Titular Professor Antonio Ruiz Castellanos of the Department of Classical Philology (Faculty of Philosophy and Letters) of the University of Cadiz (Spain) in May 2013, in association with the Graduate Program in Classical Studies of the Department of Classical Studies and Vernacular Languages (Faculty of Philosophy, Letters and Human Sciences) of the University of Sao Paulo. The activities which the visiting scholar will develop during his stay in Brazil will be threefold: (i) to give a course in our Graduate Program on Classical Studies whose theme will be "Lucretius and the Roman Epicurean Philosophy"; (ii) to participate in the meetings for the discussion of texts and projects organized by the Research Project "Relationships between philosophy, rhetoric and poetics in Latin texts" led by me and Prof. Dr. Sidney Calheiros de Lima (DLCV/FFLCH/USP); (iii) to give some conferences in other universities in Sao Paulo (UNICAMP, UNESP, UNIFESP) and Minas Gerais (UFMG).
