Abstract

Eppendorf centrifuge, model 5804R, will be used for processing samples of peripheral blood, bone marrow, some body fluids (eg Cerebrospinal Fluid - CSF) and cultured cells for analysis by flow cytometry. The centrifugation of samples is essential for the implementation of the methodologies employed in flow cytometry. The use of the centrifuge allows the adjustment of the appropriate cell concentration for each procedure. Furthermore, the centrifugation enables separation of important components of the analyzed specimen. The refrigeration increases cell viability, fundamental in cell death assays (apoptosis), and also decreasing the amount of "debris", which interfere negatively on diagnostic results. The attached accessories allow use of different tubes and plates, faciliting the development of the methodologies and optimizing the handling of samples. Thus, the acquisition of refrigerated centrifuge is required for the development of procedures for the diagnosis and research by flow cytometry. (AU)
