Abstract

The objective of the Application Plan (PAA) is to present projects that can allow the continuity of the technological evolution of the UFSCar communication and scientific Computer network (UFSCarnet), giving it enough resources to the network to supply the needs of the most diverse and demanding applications of the research and education community of UFSCar to connect to ANSP (Academic Network of Sao Paulo). In special, this plan has an objective give the adequate support to the UFSCar backbone (all the 3 campi, São Carlos, Sorocaba and Araras) to the new connectivity provided by RNP (National Academic Network) from November 2012. According to the previous use of these FAPESP resources, UFSCar has always used this resource to pay Internet connectivity os its multi campi connections (Sorocaba and Araras) since 2009. However, since UFSCar was given these high speed Internet connectivity by RNP in November, we are proposing a strategical shift of invest the FAPESP resources in the upgrade of the equipments of the backbone instead. This way, this represents a first phase of the project of this update, with a 2 years duration.
