Abstract

Studies report that the hospital environment creates different types and levels of stress. Considering these issues, it is observed that the stress related to professional practice, associated to the lack of pathological symptoms knowledge and ineffective strategies for dealing with problems, professionals can develop burnout syndrome. The objective is to analyze the prevalence of occupational stress and burnout (Burnout Syndrome) between technicians and nursing assistants and identify their coping strategies. This is a cross-sectional, descriptive and exploratory study, using a quantitative approach. It will be applied: Sociodemographic questionnaire and labor, the Scale Mode of Coping (EMEP), the Maslach Burnout Inventory (MBI) and the Job Stress Scale (JSS). The population of this study totalized 1055 technicians and nursing assistants from a University Hospital at São Paulo State. To calculate the sample of the sample was applied the usual formula N = Z2.pq / E2, where Z = 1.96, p = 0.50 and SP = 0.05. Admitted up to 20% confounding factor getting the final sample corresponding to 338 subjects. The process of randomization of the sample was done using SPSS version 16.0. For the analysis of the data will be used descriptive statistics and Simple Frequency for categorical variables and Central Tendency for quantitative variables. For association among the variables will be used Multivariate Logistic Regression. (AU)
