Abstract

Strongyloidiasis is a potentially serious infection in immunocompromised patients. Parasitological diagnosis by traditional techniques has low sensitivity. Thus, the availability of sensitive and specific diagnostic techniques is desirable, especially in the context of immunossupression, where the identification and treatment of strongyloidiasis is mandatory. Therefore, it is proposed to verify the application of immunoenzymatic (ELISA) serological techniques and Western blotting (WB) using soluble fractions of the crude extract of evolutionary stages, filariform larvae and adult female worm of Strongyloides venezuelensis for the diagnosis of human strongyloidiasis.
