Abstract

For a long time the dental attendance rendered in Brazilian publics services was restricted to basic procedures, and nevertheless with great repressed demand. According to data of Ambulatorial Information System (SIA/SUS) of 2002, only 3,5% of the total of dental clinical procedures were of specialized services. Consequently the offer of secondary and tertiary attention services is deficient and totally disconnected of the basic attention, which had great progress. It is fact that the conventional alternatives of the prosthetic rehabilitation treatment don't should be inconsiderate, but the reality of the use of the conventional complete prostheses, specially for the mandibular arch, brings to the surface that many patients don't adapts to that treatment modality. Other, due to the regressive tissue changes and/or systemic problems became of the aging cannot become adapted to that condition. Still according to the authors, the life quality is deeply altered by these conditions, and in spite of all of the dentist's efforts, so much technical-clinical as emotional, the results are unexpected, generating frustration situations in both involved parts (professional and patient). So, it is objective of this project to evaluate patients that received mandibular complete prostheses as for the use of the prostheses, adaptation of the received treatments (quality and maintenance of the prostheses), life quality and the need of over dentures on implants, correcting the possible found problems. Also, evaluate the impact and the cost-benefit of the incorporation of these procedures to the dental specialty center of the project smiling Brazil. (AU)
